Our story began in the Detroit Metro area and continues today as far south as Collier County Florida… Denise, a life-long pet owner, founded Doggie Latchkey out of necessity. In 2009, when she was planning a vacation that would take her away from her beloved standard poodle, Carlton, there were no in-home pet-sitting companies offering services. Denise was adamant about not taking him to a kennel, so she felt there must be a better solution. And that’s when the idea of Doggie Latchkey was born.
For Denise, this was not just a job, but a passion. She did it for the love of animals and the satisfaction derived from providing pet owners with a more desirable option – one that would keep their pets in an environment where they are most comfortable: their own homes. The earliest clients could see Denise’s enthusiasm for the industry and the dedication she showed for their pets. Word of mouth spread quickly, and after a few months, she needed to build her team. Everything came together rapidly.
From the start, Denise envisioned a company that was built around a team of people, rather than individuals. This team-building concept continues to be one of the core tenets of Doggie Latchkey to this day, ensuring there is a backup plan for every sit and that the pets entrusted to her care would never be in peril. Since 2009, Doggie Latchkey has completed over half a million pet sitting assignments, and its team of professional pet sitters continues to grow, sharing Denise’s love, passion, and dedication to their work!
